British Bobbies: Experts in nudging
December 13, 2008
The brief: Ensure that merry people leaving pubs cause as little damage to others and to themselves as possible.
The solution:
- Deliver verbal warnings
- Hand out fines
- Make arrests
- Give them lollipops, bubbles and flip-flops
This is great lateral thinking inspiration, don’t you think?
More on the power of the nudge here.

i’m also finding this idea of “nudge” similar to the idea that gareth kay over at brand new presented last week re: managing the environment. that is, creating conditions that would more likely have people behave in a favorable way. here’s the link: http://tinyurl.com/5m3zeh
am i off base totally off-base on tying the 2 thoughts together?
